Nov 12, 2021 Ā· 14. Nov 12, 2021. #1. Mobil 1 AFE 0W30 (SN/GF-5) used to have an impressive MRV of 13250 @ -40C and a pour point of -50C, so I bought some, not realizing I got the newer SP/GF-6A formula. I was very surprised to find out that the new version has a pour point of only -42C (-39C according to the MSDS) and no longer lists the MRV (obviously
Dec 16, 2020 Ā· Look at the chart below. A 20 weight oil has a viscosity range of 5.60-9.29 at 100 degrees Celsius. A 30 weight oil has a viscosity range of 9.30-12.49 at 100 degrees Celsius. With that said, a thinner 20 weight oil would be on the lower end of the viscosity range between 5.60-9.29. We will say 5.75 cST for example. May 5, 2019 Ā· The one under consideration here is 0W-20. This is a motor oil of zero thickening ability at cold. This made it a reliable source for better fuel consumption and better exercisability of the engine. 0W-20 helps to improve better fuel economy based upon 0.2-2.3 % improvement obtained when one switch from higher viscosity oils to this one. May 19, 2019 Ā· Answer: If a different viscosity oil is added to the engine other than dexos1ā„¢ 0W20 oil, GM recommends that an oil change be performed as soon as practical, but no longer than the next scheduled oil change. in order to return the engine to the original dexos1ā„¢ 0W20 oil factory requirements. Aug 8, 2021 Ā· Try to find an 0W20 C2 oil other than the manufacturers oil!) oil, the same engine the year before (apparently also with a variable displacement oil pump) called for 0W30 (Acea C3) oil. The years before 5W30 (Acea C3) and the base engine block used since mid 00's used to use 5W40 (A3 w/o DPF). May 31, 2012 Ā· If Titanium is as marketed as ā€˜better than’ Syntec, why are A3/B3 oil grades 0w-30 & 5w-40, which meet Daimler 229.5 & 229.3, etc. not offered here in the U.S. as a Edge Titanium? Syntec meets a higher-(more difficult) spec but Titanium in marketing is referred to as ….’most advanced oil’, but it does not meet the most advanced spec’s?
Oct 19, 2010 Ā· Since the 0w20 is thinner to begin with, along with having a higher viscosity index, the spread between it and the 0w30 will only increase as the temperature goes down. Mobil also lists MRV specs, which represent pumpability at cold temperatures (lower numbers are better). At -40C, the 0w30 has an MRV figure about 70% higher than the 0w20.
Nov 10, 2022 · Spread the love. Essentially 0w-30 does not protect your engine nearly as well as 0w-20 but is ideal for more extreme temperatures (temperatures of over 400°F). According to stikkitnow: While the 0w30 motor oil promises to protect your engine from tear, the 0w20 motor oil does this in a more outstanding and dramatic way. Feb 14, 2019 · Other than that, I think you're stuck looking at the really limited 0W-30 options, or looking into boutique 0W-20s that may or may not have any practical benefit over the already-really-good TGMO. 6mo/6k miles isn't really that long on a modern synthetic, as long as your engine doesn't suffer from fuel dilution. .
